My 280Z was totaled (that's why I have my TT now!) and State Farm (the insurance handling the claim) originally offered 3K for it. I complained and what they did was hire a clasic car appraiser. I had the receipts for the $7k paint job/interior restoration and photos of the car (luckily I had just waxed it a few days before the accident), send them to the appraiser along with listing of similar cars for sale that were asking as much as possible. They ended up paying me $9800 for it, I bought it back for $500, took out my $200 (Catz MSX) fog lights, radio (400), and my custom built speaker boxes, then sold the car to a junk car dealer for $950. Sold the radio and speaker boxes on eBay, still have the fogs if anyone wants them make an offer. Anyhow, if you can complain enough they will pay you more, and if you are dealing with hard nosed mofos then hire a lawyer and you will get the most. Especially if you got injured. In my case I had to go to chiropractic for 3 months, and they ppayed for that. At a minimum I recommend looking up what similar cars are selling for and faxing them to the adjuster.
